General Summary

The primary responsibilities are the implementation of new product costing, and the analysis of current product costs, including ongoing standard cost updates and cost variance analysis. Duties include working with cost team to build sustainable standard cost models to facilitate efficient standard cost updates in enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely calculation of product and material costs as well as period-end reports and related journal entries; assist with reports creation of Annual Business Plan (ABP) and monthly profit and loss estimations and month end closing. Running Product Cost & Profit Analysis for closing.
  • Review bills of materials and routings for completeness and usability in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Need to track the Bill of Materials (BOM) for all car models on a weekly basis and report the trends to management. Identify reasons for part price fluctuations.  Notify Parts Development about temporary or zero-priced parts to clarify their reasons.
  • Prepare K-Sox samples and support data. Analyze manufacturing variance accounts each month and prepare management summaries along with reviewing packaging standard costs and make appropriate updates on a monthly basis. 
  • Review purchase price variance accounts as well as review the monthly reports for large variances.
  • Review retro settlement from price change and analyze major transactions.
  • Prepare month end analysis of material cost and variances; analyze and review material cost by vehicle, trim and grade. Prepare Material Ledger, Sub-material report, and Factory cost report.
  • Define cost elements for product costing and maintain CO master data.
  • Measure organization's performance based on predefined product costs. Need to closely collaborate with PD to accurately understand the situation before reporting it to management When a peculiarity is found in material costs, if necessary, collaboration with Headquarters will also be required.
  • Analyze and validate costs associated with import materials (freight, customs, duty, tariffs etc.).
  • Participate in quarterly and year-end audits, providing reports and analyses to the audit team, as requested.
  • Create ad hoc reports as needed for KIA GEORGIA (Kia Georgia Inc.) and KMC (Kia Motors Corporation) management.

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field along with two (2) to five (5) years of progressive experience in the Accounting field in a manufacturing environment preferably within the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to comprehend and comply with general divisional policies and procedures in conducting day-to-day accounting and administrative responsibilities.
  • General knowledge of Accounting and Finance principles and methods.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in both exercising company decisions and carrying out essential job duties that affect efficient business operations and its objectives, policies, practices, and conditions.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Prior ERP experience preferred (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Experience with bill of materials and/or product costing preferred.
