General Summary
To coordinate purchasing and parts development related activities between KIA GEORGIA and the supply base, while supporting the Section Manager in the areas of: Planning, Directing, and Control of activities for the assigned buyers relating to the procurement of parts or systems used to manufacture the vehicle. Assist the Procurement Manager in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure an efficient and professional operation that is consistent with corporate requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Select, develop, and oversee supply base for production parts, components and systems:
- Oversee and prepare RFQ's for multi-year production quantities (as required).
- Develop and oversee Supply Base for parts, components, and systems.
- Negotiate short and long term agreements.
- Negotiate and maintain competitive pricing.
- Lead cost reduction activities for supply base.
- Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance.
- Formulate and implement yearly commodity and supply base strategy.
- Provide guidance in negotiations and to actively participate, when necessary, to assure that the company’s best interests are achieved.
- Work closely with suppliers to optimize supplier processes.
- Maintain knowledge of all market conditions that may impact the company and advise the Management of trends and the potential impact on the company.
- Support the implementation of best practices related to purchasing activities.
- Evaluate engineering and quality in part designs with suppliers to obtain best possible parts.
- Plan, organize, track and disseminate information related to production suppliers.
- Participate in purchasing related internal meetings, including making presentations to all levels of management.
- Maintain up to date supply base information.
- Take charge of Value Advanced Automotive Trade Zone (VAATZ) database interaction.

Qualifications & Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field along with five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive experience in the supply chain field in a manufacturing environment preferably within the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- OEM or parts components supplier experience preferred.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in both exercising company decisions and carrying out essential job duties that affect efficient business operations and its objectives, policies, practices, and conditions.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience with SAP system preferred.
- Knowledge of supply chain and accounting processes and practices
