Security Tech Engineer Specialist

General Summary

Responsible for supporting site security operations through the development, implementation, and maintenance of security programs, procedures, and emergency response initiatives designed to protect team members, suppliers, contractors, visitors, and company assets. Assist the Assistant Manager (AM) in the daily performance and effectiveness of contracted security services, coordinates security staffing and deployment to meet operational requirements, and serves as the primary liaison with law enforcement, emergency management, and other external response agencies. Supports emergency preparedness planning, incident response activities, crisis management efforts, and cross-functional Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives to ensure a safe, secure, compliant, and resilient workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate the contracted security operations, including scheduling, activity reporting, inspections, equipment accountability, and daily security functions. Support the development of security supervisors and officers through training, coaching, and reinforcement of Kia Georgia's safety policies, procedures, and performance standards. Ensure all emergency response personnel maintain required certifications, qualifications, and training credentials in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Assist Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Purchasing, Production Control, and other departments to develop, implement, and maintain security programs and compliance processes supporting CTPAT, ISO 27001, and Kia security requirements. Ensure security practices, records, and controls meet regulatory, corporate, and audit standards while supporting supply chain security, information security management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the administration, maintenance, and performance of security technology systems, including access control, CCTV, VMS, weapons detection systems, and surveillance assets, ensuring continuous operational readiness and system reliability.
• Support the Site Emergency Response Coordinator and site Emergency Response Teams during emergency incidents and preparedness drills, including fire emergencies, hazardous material releases, severe weather events, and other crisis situations. Maintain readiness to respond to emergencies on a 24-hour, on-call basis and assist with crisis management operations.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with local, county, state, and federal public safety officials and emergency response agencies to enhance coordination, preparedness, and incident response capabilities.
      
• Conduct regular inspections of site facilities and grounds to assess security, safety, and regulatory compliance conditions.    
• Support emergency response operations by assessing incidents, coordinating response activities, and implementing the site Emergency Action Plan when required. Maintain emergency preparedness through training, drills, and partnerships with internal teams and external response agencies.    
• Oversee compliance with security training, certification, and credentialing requirements, ensuring all applicable personnel maintain qualifications necessary to perform assigned duties.    
• Review and prepare incident reports, conduct investigations, and oversee the implementation and sustainment of corrective actions and countermeasures to prevent recurrence.    
• Support Human Resources, Legal, and Team Relations in managing workplace investigations, employee terminations, and sensitive security-related matters.    
• Partner with Human Resources to provide new hire security training, ensuring employees understand CTPAT requirements, physical security controls, access procedures, and security compliance expectations.

Qualifications & Job Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, or a related field preferred, with 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in of progressive experience in physical security engineering experience in mission critical facilities, law enforcement, corporate security, or industrial/manufacturing security environments. Experience supporting physical security programs within the automotive industry is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
•    Flexible schedule to work overtime, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends as required.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required

•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access, for security reporting, data analysis, incident documentation, and presentation development.
•    Working knowledge of SAP systems to support security operations, asset management, and administrative processes.
•    Ability to interpret blueprints and facility layouts to support physical security assessments, access control planning, and security system implementation.
•    Knowledge of basic chemistry and advanced First Aid/CPR, supporting emergency response, incident management, and workplace safety initiatives.
•    Experience managing security-related projects, including planning, coordination, implementation, and stakeholder communication.
•    Skilled in utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, and presentation software to develop security procedures, maintain records, analyze trends, and communicate security program requirements.
