General Summary

Provide expertise and team leadership of overall process in Specification Control subdivision such as engineering change orders, bill of material analysis, and assembly line/ broadcast code creation and review.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team manager to create work manuals for education and training of team members.
  • Analyze, maintain, and perform system updates for any new engineering change orders.
  • Manage simultaneous/coordinated engineering change orders, especially taking into consideration global supply chain.
  • Update effective point information through bill of material/tracking systems and communicate with suppliers. Update and maintain Logic for Broadcast to production departments.
  • Communicate with R&D Department in Korea to efficiently analyze and maintain engineering change orders. Audit bill of material check systems. Report errors or opportunities for improved efficiency to Assistant Manager.
  • Articulate and coordinate changes with suppliers in North America and Korea to establish effective point information timing.
  • Facilitate Engineering Change meetings to establish and communicate effective point information to internal Kia Georgia customers. Work closely with other departments to minimize and manage balance-out quantities for obsolete inventory
  • Converse with material management team and process control team to determine effective point information. Work effectively to convey schedules and completion dates.
  • Maintain bill of material on daily basis. Audit color bill of material with respect to engineering change orders.
  • Assess and communicate engineering change orders for errors and plausibility.
  • Review and communicate with the R&D Department in Korea to provide feedback about bill of material discrepancies.
  • Assign and maintain RPC for broadcast to Internal Customers and Suppliers.

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or related field along with two (2) to five (5) years of progressive experience in the Materials, Planning, or Controls field in a manufacturing environment preferably within the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally and North America.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in both exercising company decisions and carrying out essential job duties that affect efficient business operations and its objectives, policies, practices, and conditions.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Experience with SAP system preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop strong team relationships and a positive environment for successful compliance with suppliers and other teams.
  • Knowledge of and experience with bill of material maintenance, break point management, establishing effective point information, and assembly line code creation.
