General Summary
The Specialist, Strategic Planning is a proactive and results-driven professional who plays a critical role in advancing Kia Canada's electric vehicle (EV) strategy and ensuring compliance with Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandates. This role demands a high level of autonomy, creativity, and initiative to lead new projects, drive innovation, and support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead the development of reporting and analytics frameworks to improve transparency and forecasting accuracy.
• Design and implement tools to monitor ZEV mandate credit generation and demand by jurisdiction.
• Prepare and submit model year compliance reports in accordance with provincial regulations (BC / QC).
• Ensure timely homologation of EV models to qualify for public rebates and incentives prior to dealership delivery.
• Develop customer-facing tools to assess the impact of strategic initiatives on sales volume and profitability.
• Build and maintain a long-term strategic planning dashboard in Power BI to evaluate multiple business scenarios.
• Oversee content management for EV Information Centers (EVIC) websites in BC and QC.
• Manage strategic planning budgets, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and fiscal discipline.
• Act as a self-starter, consistently seeking out new challenges and driving projects forward with minimal supervision.
• Initiate and lead internal stakeholders to align strategic initiatives with broader business goals.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance planning efficiency.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Education Requirement
• 3+ years direct automotive experience; preferably in the area of strategic planning, sales or compliance area
• University degree in a related discipline preferred
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
• Excellent Project Management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
• Experience in budget planning and financial oversight
• Excellent organizational skills with superior attention to detail
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) – the ability to “think complexly; speak simply”
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint & Outlook)
• Expert-level skills in Power BI for data visualization and scenario modeling
• Demonstrated ability to lead new initiatives and deliver impactful results in a fast-paced environment
• Bilingual in French and English is considered a strong asset
