Supervisor, Accounting & Tax

General Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting & Tax Supervisor to oversee financial reporting, Tax compliance, and month-end processes. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate consolidation, tax filings, fixed asset management, audit support, and balance sheet integrity.

This is a 20 month full time contract position. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial consolidation, including P&L analysis, intercompany reconciliations, and preparation of consolidation packages.
  • Perform fixed asset accounting, including month end capitalization review, run depreciation, prepare related balance sheet schedules and perform annual audit of fixed assets.
  • Manage and remit indirect tax compliance, including HST/PST/QST, Tire Stewardship Fees, and excise tax filings and remittances.
  • Coordinate completion of monthly and quarterly Statistics Canada surveys.
  • Support corporate tax reporting by preparing quarterly and year end Tax schedules.
  • Perform month-end closing activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely processing and accuracy of accounts payable transactions.
  • Prepare required documentation for auditors and tax advisors.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and perform other duties as needed.
  • Lead cross-departmental collaboration to ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP/IFRS), regulatory requirements, internal controls.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Education Requirement

  • At least 6~8 years of progressive experience in accounting and or tax role
  • Strong research, financial analysis and problem solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian taxation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and/or Accounting. CPA designation or working towards it.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS)
  • Attention to detail with advanced MS office skills.
  • Self-motivated, easily adaptive to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of SAP would be an asset.
  • Salary Range: $70,000 - $99,153
